Special Report: Junior Farewell

On the last day of camp, 9-11 holds a very special sending off ceremony for its oldest campers. The Junior Farewell is a way for those who won't be able to come back as campers to share with the rest of camp what SEP means to them, and to say goodbye.

Rising Juniors each get a moment to speak freely about how they feel about the end of camp. At the end of their speech they place an item in an SEP time capsule, explaining what makes it so important to them. Some of the items chosen this session include a can of Arizona Iced Tea, a glowstick, a picture of Dave Franco, a friendship bracelet, the complete lyrics to "I'm Yours" by Jason Mraz, and a crumpled up piece of paper with a surprising story behind it.

A brief selection of quotes from the event:

"This is the most memorable way I've spent my summer vacation."

"To all of you out there who are thinking you may not want to come back next year: come back.

"It's about the connections you make and the people that you meet."

"No one accepts my weirdness like all of you here do."

"It was the best time of my life."

"My suite is like a second family to me now."

"I've had so many memories this year, and I think they're some of the best memories."
