The 9-11 talent show has two parts. Some skits see each suite working as a team, either dancing together or performing a skit. Individual acts, where one or more campers show off their unique talents, are encouraged as well.
7:37 - Masters of Ceremony Nishant Grover and Mister Fitzgerald start the show with a shout out to Academic Coordinator Matthew Reames and SEP Intern Katie Solden, both of whom took time out of their schedule to watch the show.
7:39 - Dave's campers are up first starting strong by performing a variation on the classic "thriller" dance. The green zombie make up only enhances the experience.
7:43 - Katie's suite begins their skit with an SEP stand-by: counselor impersonations! The skit features all the counselors in a dating game setting. Their impressions are all great, though their performances as Katie, Grayson, and Dave are particularly dead on.
7:50 - The first individual act. It's a beat-boxing/A cappella rendition of the hit song "Radioactive" by Imagine Dragons. Campers keep the beat on frisbees, supporting their vocalist. The performance is nothing short of fantastic
7:55 - We're back to suite acts as Grayson's campers take the stage. Their counselor is the focus of the skit, following Grayson and the manifestations of his conscience as they debate how to deal with a problematic camper. An abstract idea with a funny execution.
8:00 - Hannah's girls take the stage. A short skit sets up the main event: Beyonce's "Single Ladies" dance!
8:02 - Two campers sing VV Brown's "Shark in the Water" A cappella. Counselor Emily Newman assists by "swimming" across the stage using her hand as a shark fin. The audience spontaneously waves along before giving a standing ovation.
8:06 - Mister's campers are up, reciting an humorous ode to Counselor Katie Crisco.
8:08 - Sarah Henry's (known to the campers as "Shenry") suite performs. Their act is a series of short skits and dances set to many different popular songs, ending with a quadruple wedding to the tune of Bruno Mars' "Marry You."
8:12 - A unique individual act: slam poetry. As is tradition in poetry circles, campers signal their approval in snaps.
8:15 - Nishant's campers may have the most surprising skit of the night. After a fairly somber opening, they break out a hilarious acoustic cover of the viral hit "Friday," by Rebecca Black.
8:22 - Marian's girls take the stage with a Pokemon themed skit, using counselors as stand ins for Pokemon.
8:25 - A unique individual act: the ability to whistle the tune of any pop song. The crowd goes wild to the whistled chorus of "Party in the USA."
8:30 - Spencer's suite is up with a Jeopardy themed skit that finds the counselors on the game show answering questions about themselves. As usual, the impersonations are excellent.
8:40 - Brielle's campers sit in a line across the stage, using small plastic cups to perform "The Cup Song" from the hit A cappella movie "Pitch Perfect."
8:44 - It's time for another individual act: a beautiful rendition of "Grenade" by Bruno Mars.
8:48 - Emily's suite takes the stage with a disney princess themed skit. Each camper plays a modern camper version of classic disney princesses. Sleeping Beauty can't stay awake in class, and Belle won't stop reading during rec time.
8:55 - Sarah Schmidt's (known to the campers as Schmitty) campers are the last to perform as a suite. Their A cappella performance of "I'm Yours" by Jason Mraz is stunning. A fantastic way to end the suite acts.
9:00 - This deadpan dance set to "Never Gonna Give You Up" by Rick Astley is one of the biggest hits of the night. The audience is clapping along before the lyrics even begin.
9:02 - The show closes with an old SEP tradition: the counselor goodbye song. The counselors write new, SEP-centric lyrics to a popular song and serenade their campers only days before they leave. This year's song is based on "I Knew You Were Trouble" by Taylor Swift: "We Knew You Were Trouble When You Checked In."
