The 5-8 talent show differs from the 9-11 version in that only one type of act is allowed. Each suite teams up with the suite closest to them in age and performs a skit or a dance set to a song of their counselors' choosing. The evening begins with the youngest campers and progresses until the oldest campers have performed.
7:10 - Computer troubles conspire to keep the live blog from starting. The issues are resolved in time to catch the second act. Cameron and Robert's suites act out a skit in which an angry mob hunts down one of the SEP counselors. They seamlessly transition into an amusing dance set to Britney Spears' "Hit Me Baby One More Time."
7:17 - Chelsea and Adrianna's girls take the stage with a skit set in a thrift shop. The girls cleverly speak in song lyrics before breaking out into the "Kidz Bop" version of Macklemore's "Thrift Shop."
7:24 - Sam and Andrew's boys perform a skit set in a grocery store. The campers' counselor impersonations are a big hit with the audience. In a surprise move, these 5th and 6th grade boys suddenly begin dancing to "Total Eclipse of the Heart!"
7:30 - Leah and Maggie Huff's girls skit is a combination skit/dance set to "Dumb Ways to Die," a popular youtube video. Short, funny vignettes of camp life end with the ridiculous death of an SEP counselors, segueing into the chorus.
7:42 - Vipin and Stephen's suites tackle "Survivor" by Destiny's Child. It's a bold choice of song that pays off when the audience almost immediately starts to clap along to the music.
7:48 - A game show themed skit by Katya and Kelsey's girls. The "Mamma Mia Runway Show" features the girls favorite counselors walk an imaginary runway until ABBA's "Mamma Mia" starts playing and the girls perform a well choreographed dance.
7:55 - John and Tim's suites may have the funniest skit of the night, acting out an overblown fight over Barbie dolls before "Barbie Girl" by Aqua starts playing. The whole camp sings along.
8:00 - Destinie and Savannah's girls perform an assassins themed skit in which the counselors "kill" each other with socks. The skit wraps up with "Spice up your Life" by the Spice Girls.
8:08 - A secret skit. The counselors stand from their seats, singing the many parts of "One day More" from "Les Miserables," and receive a standing ovation for their efforts.
8:15 - Scooter and Mike's boys' skit takes place on a normal day of camp, with each of the campers impersonating a counselor. The skit ends as SEP skits often do...with a pun. This one leads into the second Britney Spears song: "Womanizer."
8:20 - Maggie Chambers and Sarah's girls take the stage, the last girls suite to do so. They dance to "Upside Down" by the A*Teens, an old pop classic.
8:25 - The last camper skit of the night. Sean and Jonah's boys march single file onto the stage, setting up a very original slapstick skit set in a military base. Somehow, this odd performance leads to what can only be described as an interpretive dance set to "Someone Like You" by Adele.
8:30 - Time for the session 2 slide show. Every counselor has been taking pictures all session to ensure that the slideshow is a perfect representation of this amazing session. Campers cheer their favorite pictures and sing along to the music.
8:54 - The show ends with the counselor goodbye song. Every session, the counselors rewrite the lyrics to a popular song to serenade their campers, thanking them for a great two weeks. This session's song is based on "I Gotta Feeling" by the Black Eyed Peas. Our version: "I Gotta Feeling That We All Had a Really Good Time."
